Well, the wife and I have finally done it. We've moved back to the east coast and are now living in our new house in Scranton Pennsylvania. We love the house a bought it for a good price. Getting settled into a new town is something that I haven't had to do in twelve years. It's been a great experience so far and I'm really enjoying all the new people I've met.
I know the question comes up all the time so I figure it's best to answer it.
Why Move out of LA? I tried to stick it out for as long as I could. I met a lot of great people and enjoyed my career there. Even with all that there was always two things hanging over my head. Both my wife and I are from Upstate NY and we wanted to get closer to family. LA is also super expensive and buying a house there is getting to the point where it doesn't seem to be a good choice.
Let em explain. LA isn't just a pricey place to live, it is steeped in taxes. One thing that kept playing over and over in my head as I looked at property was that if I died my school teaching wife would be on the hook for the mortgage and a mountain of property taxes. So it was time to solve this problem and get closer to family.
So here we are in Scranton. I will be working on getting another film off the ground soon. I'll keep you posted.
